Remove Person from Photo

A stranger wandered into your shot, or someone in the background would rather not be in it. Brush over the person and the scene behind them is rebuilt — free, without uploading the photo anywhere.

1 · Mark what to remove

Choose a photo, or try the sample. The image never leaves this page.

2 · Check the result

The filled result appears here, next to your original for comparison.

Choose a photo to start — it stays on this page.

Runs entirely in your browser — the photo is never uploaded. Large images are scaled to at most 512 px on the long edge so filling finishes quickly; the downloaded PNG matches this working size.

Removing people cleanly

  1. 1

    Cover the whole person

Head to feet, plus a margin. People are large, so zoom your brush size up — you can paint faster with a big brush and fix edges with a small one.

  2. 2

    Include their shadow

A removed person with a remaining shadow looks haunted. Mask the shadow on the ground too, unless you prefer to keep it.

  3. 3

Work in one pass per person

Mask one person completely and fill, then the next. One full pass per person blends better than patching limbs one by one.

What decides the result

A person is a big hole, so the fill has a lot of ground to recover. The rule of thumb: the more structured the background behind them, the cleaner the removal.

  • Good cases: people against walls, lawns, beaches, water, pavement, blurred (bokeh) backgrounds — the pattern continues right through the hole.
  • Tough cases: people in front of crowds, shop windows, dense foliage or text. The area will fill, but expect it to look softer than the surroundings — judge whether that trade is acceptable before using the photo.

Everything runs locally at up to 512 px on the long edge, and the download is a PNG. If a person overlaps the main subject of the photo, no inpainting tool can recover what the subject hid — the fill can only use visible background.

Questions

Will the person's face affect the rest of the photo?

No. Only the masked area is replaced — every pixel outside your brush strokes is copied through untouched.

Can I remove several people at once?

Yes, mask them all in one go or one at a time. One pass per person usually blends better, especially if they overlap different backgrounds.

Is this allowed?

Removing people from photos you took or have rights to edit is normal photo editing — do respect the privacy and publicity rights of the people involved, and don't use removal to mislead.

Person removal is one use of the AI inpainting tool — the same engine that removes objects, watermarks and text.
